Since I'm Going To Be An Aunt

We are thawing out today from our little ice debacle. It looks like it is raining ice from the trees now that the sun has come out. Taking advantage of this weather I have been working on the finishing touches of a project I have been working on for months. For those of you who don't know already, I am going to be an aunt for the first time in March! My sister-in-law and her hubby are expecting a little boy and I'm so excited! This is the first picture of my nephew. These 3D ultrasounds just amaze me.

They have decorated his nursery in Baby Noah's Ark decor, so her gift I felt should be of a matching theme. This is the only little tidbit I'm giving you for now. Pictures of the completed project will be coming soon! I just love the little turtle and I hope she loves this just as much as I do. I hope I can finish it up in the next week so it will be ready in plenty of time of her shower.

The "Snow" Storm of the Century

Ok. So the weather people have some kind of conspiracy with the grocery business. They were calling for this huge storm, possibly lots of power outages, and probably 2 good days snowed in the house. I was actually looking forward to having a few days of just being home with the kids and the hubby. We went out to Ace Hardware yesterday and bought the kids a big plastic sled just in case "the event" occurred. When we brought the sled in my 4-year-old being the true southerner says, "Why did you buy a boat??" He is too funny sometimes.

Living in the south, we have learned that it is hit or miss and most the time miss in our case, so I really try not to get my hopes up about these things. So without further ado I present you pics of our "snow" we woke up to this morning. Impressive right? (note the sarcasm)

While the ice looks really cool in these pics it is not even excessive like they were calling for. (Not that I'm really complaining about less ice by any means.) Our biggest thing now is that it is supposed to get really cold tonight, so it could refreeze whatever melts between now and then. This isn't even fun bad weather. :-P

Looks like the boys will have to continue to pretend to sled in the house. Here's hoping for one good snow this winter!!

And so it begins!

So, I am back to the blogging world from a long hiatus. My main goal here is just to share the things I have created or that I am working on at present. I have really had that itch to craft lately and I got a new sewing machine with the embroidery feature which should be great fun to play with! It is a Singer, and I'm already loving it so much more than my Brother I used to have. I have learned so much since I got it.

I made my first pillowcase dress and I'm so excited (even though I don't have a little girl to put it on. haha) Guess I'll borrow a friend's kid.

The other thing I have been working on is a great bunny hat. I found the pattern on etsy probably a year ago from a great seller, www.tiptopapplesauce.etsy.com . I thought this hat would be perfect for Easter this year, and I will be adding this to my own etsy shop very soon. I'll post new pics when I have my cutie pie model lined up.
