Silhouette = Success!!

Overall, I would say today was a pretty good day.  I dug right into the Silhouette and cut out my very first designs.  It was not nearly as hard as I was expecting it to be!  And the finished results are so cute!  I am making number shirts for my daughter and niece for their birthdays that are coming up over the next month.  This is what I have so far cut out of fabric with interfacing.  How fantastically neat did those cuts turn out?!?  My hand cuts never would have been that neat!  I can see this is going to be the start of a beautiful relationship.

Here she is in progress.....

To end the day, I got in over $150 in Mary Kay sales and I didn't even have a party today.  Since I have only been selling for a couple of weeks this is very exciting to me still.  I even got to place my second order because I have already depleted my inventory on just one facial party and individual outside sales like this.  Yay!

Weekends!

It seems like it takes so long for the weekends to get here, and then we blink and they are over already.  When the weather gets warm out our schedule fills up, and it's ball parks, and birthday parties, and festivals.  Anyway, always something going on.  The weekend started out pretty normal for us here with a t-ball game bright and early Saturday morning.

Here is my little hard hitter.  Look at that stance.  He is in the zone!

Today, of course, we had church, and afterwards dinner with family and friends.  We went to eat at a local barbecue restaurant, and in the parking lot was an old Chevy truck that was beautifully restored right down to the white wall tires.  Classic.  The first thing the kids said when they saw it, "Look, Mom!  It's Tow Mater!"  I just love them. :)

The total of my crafting time this weekend you say?  Well, this afternoon I got out the box with my Silhouette Cameo in it.  I received this for Christmas and have wanted it for quite some time, but here it still sat in the box.... 5 months..... but today?  Today the box got opened!  It is now sitting on the kitchen table.  I have installed the software on my computer, and now I just have to learn to use it!  That my friends is on my agenda for tomorrow!

J-Bird's Fancy Pants

I showed you a pic of the fabric I had cut out for the MADE bloomer pattern a couple of days ago.  Well the fancy pants, as I will refer to them, are complete.  The pattern/tutorial is so easy and quick to make.  If my sweet darling little girl hadn't been having a bad couple of days I would have posted them sooner.  She is definitely a Mama's Baby and apparently the sewing machine is competition for her.  Would not trade this time in the world, though, because I know it won't be much longer and she won't want to be seen in public with me probably.

Excuse the marks on her back.  She fell asleep in the car seat and her shirt must have been wrinkled up behind her.

I may be just a little biased, but I think this is the cutest little ruffled butt in the world!

Playing catch up!

Wow, so much has happened since I last posted.  I thought it was time I get back on top of this blogging thing.  I have had a serious lapse and during the span of a year plus some I had a new baby myself.... who will actually be celebrating her first birthday in about a week.  Time flies so fast with kids, and they don't stay little long enough, so enjoy it while you can I say!  I have been doing so much more sewing since having my first daughter.  It is way too tempting with all the cute little dresses and ruffles upon ruffles.  Today I took the time to cut out the bloomer pattern from www.dana-made-it.com which has one of the best bloomer tutorials I have seen, and it is FREE... my favorite kind.

This is what they look like right now.  I will be adding ruffles to the bum on mine thus the strips of fabric on top, because birthday bloomers need all the bells and whistles!

I took an old sheet with a lovely polka dot pattern and cut into it for these.  I think they will make the perfect addition to her birthday party clothing ensemble.  I'll post pics of the rest of J-bird's first birthday attire when it is complete.

Also, in other nonrelated news I got an iPhone, my first smartphone, and I must say where has this thing been all my life!  So easy to work and I can get a decent pic of all the cute things my kids do when my camera isn't on hand.  I feel like I have finally stepped into the 21st century!  I happened upon a great app the other day which is also FREE called Instagram.  Have you tried this?  It can help you transform your pictures using filters, so they become art!  Below are a couple I have gotten lately... Love it!

What apps do you love?  I'd love to hear!

It's been a while

I've been MIA for a while. This summer has been rough and I have not kept up with my blog as well as I should have. Since my last post I have had a nephew and a niece born, my grandmother who was a rock for our family passed away, we took the kids to Disney for their first time just to name a few things. Now that the kids are back in school I have really been working hard to get back on top of things. I have recently created a couple of new things for my etsy shop. They have not been listed yet, because I need to make up some more stuff before I'm ready. I will add a few pics of my newest creations who were inspired by a few of my new found online friends... who are cowgirls. ;) My cousin who is a graphic designer is going to help me make a new banner for my store, so keep your eyes peeled. I'm so excited!
